BIRTH PANGS: Seismic Unrest Continues to Reel the United States

Seismic unrest in the US: 11 earthquakes hit Yellowstone, 4 tremors in New Madrid, 2 rare quakes in Shishmaref

The United States are being hit by series of earthquakes from Alaska to Georgia today.

Within the last 12 hours, 11 earthquakes hit Yellowstone, 4 tremors were recorded in New Madrid Seismic Zone, and 2 rare quakes hit Shishmaref, Alaska. From West to East.

On June 1, 2017, two rare and shallow earthquakes (M3.8 and M3.8) hit Shishmaref in Alaska. The area around Shishmaref, Alaska, is not really known for producing earthquakes as it only had 8 earthquakes since 1931. The largest earthquake to have hit the area was a M4.8 quake in July 2016.

These two earthquakes were followed by tremors reported in the New Madrid Seismic Zone, more precisely in Tennessee (M1.5 and M1.8). Although common such quakes are scaring the hell out of people because of the New Madrid Fault which produced the most powerful quake in US history.

Then on June 2, 2017, a series of earthquakes started rattling West Yellowstome in Montana, very close to the Yellowstone National Park and thus to the supervolcano caldera. The strongest earthquake in the swarm was a 2.6-magnitude (M1.4M2.0M1.6M2.2M1.9M1.8M2.6M1.7M1.2M0.6M1.4.

A few hours later, two other small quakes rattled New Madrid again in Georgia (M1.5) and Alabama (M2.6). Meanwhile a M3.4 earthquake hit Ohio on June 3 2017.
Nobody knows what is going on and if something is really happening along the New Madrid or if the Yellowstone supervolcano is awakening, but one thing is sure, pressure is being released and you should get prepared for another big earthquake in your area.
