A 5-year-old Ohio boy saved his mom’s life after remembering a catchy jingle he was taught to use in the event of an emergency.
Kristi Bailey collapsed on May 3 in her home, suffering an ectopic pregnancy that left her in dire medical situation. That’s when her son, Jackson, stepped in and took action after recalling the simple emergency song his parents taught him.
It goes as follows: “You call nana, daddy, call 911, if mommy should fall.”
So, he called his dad and grandmother, who phoned for an ambulance. Luckily, paramedics got there just in time, as Bailey’s fallopian tube had ruptured and she had lost nearly two liters of blood.
While Bailey and her husband, Todd Kleinpaste, thought they’d never need Jackson to use that jingle, they were certainly grateful that they had taught it to him. After all, it saved his mom’s life, Inside Edition reported.
“If Jackson hadn’t called his dad and his grandma like we had taught him over a year ago, then I wouldn’t be here.” Bailey told the outlet.
Her husband agreed, telling the Columbus Dispatch that he was “terrified” when he received Jackson’s call, but grateful.
“If he had not had enough sense of mind to call me … she would’ve died,” Todd Kleinpaste said.
And Jackson has received some recognition for his brave act, with the Worthington Fire Department honoring him last Sunday with a “Hero of the Day” award, a cake and a silver token, according to the Columbus Dispatch.
